Evergreen Instructors

At Evergreen Cultural Centre we aim to provide the best possible experience for patrons of all ages. Evergreen instructors are professional artists in their field, each with years of teaching experience, who are dedicated not only to the arts, but to current pedagogy and instructional practices.


 

WENDY ANDERSON (VISUAL ARTS)

A freelance artist, designer and arts educator, Wendy Anderson is a graduate of the Bachelor of Design Program at the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has over twenty years experience teaching and working with children in the community at large with Learning through the Arts and Evergreen’s On the Road art program.

MICHAEL CHARROIS (PERFORMING ARTS)

Michael Charrois is a professional actor (Equity, UBCP/ACTRA) with over twenty-five years experience teaching drama to students aged five to adult. Michael studied drama at the University of Alberta and the Banff School of Fine Arts and is always upgrading his skills, most recently with the Arts Club Actors Intensive. Michael writes plays, performs as a Master of Ceremonies, is a federal political candidate and professional street performer.

MANDY TULLOCH (PERFORMING ARTS)

Mandy Tulloch has been working professionally as an actor/dancer/singer/writer on stage and screen since the age of six. She has received awards and accolades including “Excellence in Education Initiative” and recently wrote, directed and co-produced The Bullying Games production. Mandy also has the honour of being selected as one of the 75 finalists in the 5th annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards program.

 

JENNIFER PIELAK (PERFORMING ARTS)

Jennifer Pielak is an actor, improviser and singer and has been teaching and directing improv for 9 years. She has trained as a performer in Vancouver and Chicago and has her BA in Psychology and Philosophy from UBC. Jennifer is becoming known as one of the top musical improvisers in Canada and teaches classes in the art form in Vancouver. She co-founded and was Artistic Director of local musical improv group Off Key Improv for 4 years. She has performed improv at the Vancouver International Improv Festival, the New York Musical Improv Festival, the rEvolver Theatre Festival, at Improv Boston, Second Storey Theatre, The Improv Centre on Granville Island, with the Fictionals Comedy Co, Instant Theatre and Table23 Comedy. As someone who loves to spearhead ambitious projects and create constantly, Jennifer loves to collaborate with performers who like to dream big. She jumps into her classes with energy, focus and a drive to help inspire her students move beyond what they think is possible.

LAUREN BARNETT (DANCE)

Lauren Barnett has been dancing since she was three years old. After fifteen years of training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, musical theatre, and acting at the Caulfield School of Dance, she began working as a dance instructor at Evergreen and at Port Moody Recreation Centre. Lauren won several dance scholarships while training, and has competed in dance festivals, such as Peak Invitational, Surrey Dance Festival, and Coquitlam Dance Festival. She has also performed in Walt Disney Land Park and California Adventure Park.

 

DAMON JANG (PERFORMING ARTS)

Damon Jang is multi-disciplinary and holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts, Musical Theatre Diploma from Capilano University and more recently is a graduate of the Banff Centre Summer Musical Theatre Intensive program. He has been lucky enough to work for companies such as: Theatre Under The Stars, Gateway Theatre, Firehall Arts, Applause Musicals, Fighting Chance and DreamRider Theatre to name a few. Damon is also a freelance theatre publicist and administrator having worked for several professional companies and organizations.

 

AMANDA WILLIAMSON (PERFORMING ARTS)

Amanda is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Program at Capilano University, and is currently studying Theatre Performance at SFU. She has worked as a singer, actor, and dancer for Uncle Randy Productions, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park, Cornerstone Theatre (Alberta) and the Tickle Trunk Players. Presently, she performs in a musical trio called The Beauty Shop Dolls.
