JOHN REISCHMAN & THE JAYBIRDS

Like the powerful mandolinist and composer at its helm, John Reischman and the Jaybirds fashion a stylish take on bluegrass that seamlessly blends original songs and instrumentals with Appalachian old-time music for a truly unique band sound. Now in their 20th year, with seven acclaimed albums and two Juno nominations, the Jaybirds are simultaneously innovative and unadorned, sophisticated and stripped-down, happily old-fashioned and 21st-century contemporary.

KRYSTLE DOS SANTOS

Krystle Dos Santos is an extraordinary blues, jazz and soul singer based out of Vancouver, Canada. With a voice that is commanding, powerful and rich with talent, her music, inspired by classic and neo-soul combined with contemporary hip-hop and R&B elements is executed brilliantly; It’s simultaneously elegant, bold and sensual. Her performances are mesmerizing; She sings with sheer heart wrenching dominion about falling in love, heartbreak and struggle.

MEAGAN & AMY

In search of a classical Canadian musical identity that engages listeners from all backgrounds, the duo meagan&amy explores connections between several Canadian compositions and works from the traditional canon of classical repertoire. Their program pairs Canadian composers including a recently commissioned piece by Jocelyn Morlock with well-known icons such as Mozart that influenced these contemporary composers.

DON VAPPIE & JAZZ CREOLE

Led by Don Vappie, the award-winning Creole banjoist/vocalist from New Orleans. Vappie is a living embodiment of 300 years of New Orleans music embodying all aspects of the unique melting pot of cultures that is New Orleans. Known for being banjoist/guitarist in Winton Marsalis’ Jazz at the Lincoln Centre band, but more importantly his nurturing approach to Creole culture and its preservation. He is widely considered to be one of the best banjoists in the history of New Orleans.
