2022-2023 VARIETY SERIES EVENTS

THE COMIC STRIPPERS

AUGUST 26 & 27, 2022 | 8:00pm

We know you love them – and now the award-winning, improv comedians behind The Comic Strippers are back with a new show, more moves, and even quicker wits. This fictitious male stripper group (played by a cast of some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians) performs a sexy-larious improv comedy show. Semi-undressed and completely unscripted, The Comic Strippers take off their shirts and take on audience suggestions to create a whole new genre of comedy.

WARNING: NO extreme nudity – just extreme hilarity! This show for all genders is available for audiences 19+.

BIG QUEER FILIPINO KARAOKE NIGHT!

NOVEMBER 24, 2022 | 7:30pm

Join us for a Clown-Drag-Karaoke Extravaganza, serving up Filipino-Canadian identity shenanigans, queer insights, family epiphanies, and soul gratifying karaoke! Inspired by Davey Calderon’s visit to his family’s ancestral land, the Philippines, this show is an interactive celebration of the intersections found in oneself. Created on the unceded lands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and səlil̓wətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, this show is proud to be created by POC, QTPOC, and queer collaborators.

PROXIMITY

NOVEMBER 27, 2022 | 7:30pm

Acclaimed around the world as an exceptional choreographer and performer, BC dance artist Joshua Beamish brings together a program of thrilling contemporary dance pieces showcasing both aspects of his work in PROXIMITY. The performance features two of his own creations – the world premiere of Lost Touch, a new solo danced by Renée Sigouin (Kidd Pivot, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre); and Proximity, a duet performed by Beamish and Sigouin together.

THE GIFT: THE NUTCRACKER

DECEMBER 19 – 22, 2022 | 7pm & 3pm

Ballet Victoria’s The Gift is a 21st century updated family tradition with everything you expect from a ballet production. An original Christmas tale danced to the timeless score of the Nutcracker with humorous pantomime, beautiful costumes, magic and as always, surprises for the whole family. The score drives the imaginative choreography for the company dancers. Come and enjoy the timeless tale guaranteed to warm your heart and spread holiday cheer. Watch the story come alive and enthral the whole family!

GOD IS A SCOTTISH DRAG QUEEN 3

FEBRUARY 04, 2023 | 7:30pm

Mike Delamont is back! God, dressed in a floral power suit, returns to skewer everything from armadillos to zeus in a hilarious and all new chapter. Audiences across North America have fallen in love with this Scottish Deity and the third chapter has proven to be the most popular!

BALLET JÖRGEN: DANCE FOR ALL

FEBRUARY 19, 2023 | 7:30pm

Ballet Jörgen has developed a program that can be adapted for a wide range of stage dimensions and specifications. This purpose designed programming is expertly tailored for smaller venues. This new initiative will allow presenters to include an evening of professional ballet within season programming parameters in a cost effective way.This mixed program will showcase excerpts from major classical ballets such as Romeo & Juliet, along with exciting new contemporary works by Canadian choreographers.

CHRIS FUNK: REDEFINING WONDER

MAY 27, 2023 | 7:30pm

Chris Funk’s Redefining Wonder is an engaging and visceral multimedia experience that has audiences talking and scratching their heads for years to come. Finally, a magic show with live music! Chris has pioneered the use of instruments like the violin, guitar, flute and more into his illusions. His parents wanted him to be a musician, but he wanted to be a magician. Chris tells his story on how he integrated his love for music and magic in a show unlike any other.
