Named one of CBC Music’s “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30”, the Cheng² Duo is celebrated by audiences and critics alike for its artistic excellence, generous spirit, and compelling vibrancy. The brother- and sister duo is formed by 20-year-old cellist Bryan Cheng, recipient of the 2017 Canada Council for the Arts Michael Measures Prize, and pianist Silvie Cheng, recipient of the Roy M. Rubinstein Award for exceptional promise in piano performance.
Announcement — Bryan Cheng is the First Place laureate of the 2018 Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank program! Bryan will be performing with a rare instrument from their collection, for a three-year loan. He will soon be delighting audiences at home and abroad with a circa 1696 Bonjour Stradivarius cello and circa 1830 Shaw Adam cello bow. Legends in themselves, the magnificent instruments from the collection were created by some of the world’s greatest craftsmen.
Presented as part of our TD Music Series.
