ABOUT THE SHOW

Commedia dell’arte is an Italian form of masked theatre dating back to the 15th century Europe. Commedia dell’arte is a devised form of theatre built on physical comedy, mask work, movement, clown, improvisation, and audience interaction. Commedia dell’arte is funny, raunchy, political, satirical, and it does not pull its punches. Commedia dell’arte isn’t a well-known art-form today, but we can see its influences in sitcoms, sketch comedy, cartoons and modern-day clown shows.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

ERIN PURGHART | Erin Purghart is an actor, comedian and producer based in Lower Mainland, BC. Erin graduated from UBC with a BFA in Acting in 2021 and has since worked in theatre, film, and improv and stand-up comedy. Erin produces and hosts their own show called That’s gay! comedy, as well as improvises regularly with People You May Know, QueerProv and Tightrope Impro Theatre. Recent acting credits include: For Now (Green Thumb Theatre), Heart of Gold (Noema Productions), Amphitruo (United Players), and Juggle Me Not (Axis Theatre Company). 

CONOR MEADOWS | Conor Meadows (he/him) is an actor from Edmonton, Alberta who is thrilled to be returning to Commedia. A graduate of the BFA Acting program at UBC in 2022, Conor has been acting on stage and screen since 2013. You can catch Conor in his feature film debut, Bad Genius, releasing in 2024. Conor is represented by Carrie Wheeler Entertainment Group.
