YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AT EVERGREEN
2021/22 RISE UP SESSIONS
The Rise Up Sessions are a collaborative series of performances showcasing local Emerging Creators and a line up of diverse voices & artistic expression. Celebrating some of the new directions that performing arts are taking in our cities, this second season of youth engagement events amplifies the work of Emerging local Creators in diverse fields.
Featuring music, poetry, and theatre performances, this new series centres diverse ways of being, thinking and the influence that BIPOC, femmes and 2SLGBTQ+ artists have in the arts.

THE PARALLEL PROJECT
March 30, 2022 | 8:00pm
The Parallel Project was born out of a desire to increase the accessibility of monologues written by and for Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour (IBPOC) artists. Since the project’s inception in July 2020, eleven monologues have been written by seven artists, undergone professional dramaturgy, and filmed for future distribution.
From topics ranging from difficult conversations with friends, to navigating the pandemic, to discovering and embracing family and culture, this performance weaves together six of those monologues and offers a chance for six individual voices to be heard and celebrated.
