GALLERY TOUR & VISUAL ART WORKSHOP
Learn, explore and create through art! Led by our artist Educators, your visit includes a tour of our latest Art Gallery exhibition for inspiration and conversation, followed by hands-on art-making in the studio.
These two-hour programs emphasize visual literacy, critical thinking and technical art skills that support your classroom curriculum. Our sessions are suitable for elementary, middle and secondary students, with programs tailored to different ages and learning styles.
Maximum Class Sizes:
K – Grade 2: 24 students + 3 adult chaperons
Grades 3+: 30 students + 3 adult chaperons
Workshops available between 9 – 11AM and 12:30 – 2:30PM.

KINDERGARTEN – GRADE 12 | $120
MONDAYS + TUESDAYS, MAY 07 – JUNE 17
Following a gallery tour of the new exhibition, Semá:th Xo:tsa: Sts’ólemeqwelh Sxó:tsa / Great Gramma’s Lake, students will have a chance to sketch in the gallery, inspired by the masks of Stó:lō master carver E’yies’lek Rocky LaRock or the large-scale puppets on display.
Students will then head to our studio to add colour to their composition and create a finished artwork.

WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY, MAY 07 – JUNE 03
Tour the new exhibition, Semá:th Xo:tsa: Sts’ólemeqwelh Sxó:tsa / Great Gramma’s Lake and find inspiration from the forms and expressions of the masks created by Stó:lō master carver E’yies’lek Rocky LaRock. Students will use slab hand-building techniques to create a mini clay mask character of their own. Masks will be glazed and fired.
Clay processing takes four weeks and teachers will receive an email when it’s time to pick up the art.

The Art Gallery at Evergreen presents Semá:th Xó:tsa: Sts’ólemeqwelh Sxó:tsa/Great Gramma’s Lake. This exhibition tells the story of Semá:th Xó:tsa (Sumas Lake) that, for millennia, was central to the cultural, spiritual and physical well–being of the Semá:th people (Sumas First Nation) and surrounding Indigenous communities.
This exhibition is organized and circulated by The Reach Gallery Museum, Abbotsford.
