June 19, 2023 | Reception at 6:30PM | 7:30PM
Confluence is a dance work that weaves our perspectives, our histories and our bodies to create somatic tapestry that speaks to the resilience of Indigenous women. We embody the space between land and sky through play, prayer, grief and gratitude and are the living testament to the legacy that has been offered to us.
OPEN AIR PERFORMANCE SERIES
Evergreen Cultural Centre is delighted to announce our brand new Open Air Performance Series, a summer-long series of live performances created to expand our arts programming outside our usual spaces and into Town Centre Park and Lafarge Lake.
MAY 13 – JULY 23 | ART GALLERY AT EVERGREEN
TRANSMISSIONS

Artists Jonathan Alfaro, Katherine Boyer, Roxanne Charles, Emily Hermant, Damla Tamer and Valarie d. Walker draw on complex histories and rich cultural and personal practices connected to textiles to build sculptural works that move away from the gallery wall.
Their techniques span weaving, dyeing, knotting and casting, among other processes. The artworks, created from a variety of organic and manufactured materials—from animal fibres and plant material to wire, silicone and plastic—fill the gallery from floor to ceiling. The works’ relation to the body, three-dimensional space and evolving technologies stitch together the varied artworks presented in Transmissions.
